Can my bad credit really stop me from getting a job?

Ok, so I interviewd for a great job yesterday it went great and I was offered the job the same day. I was told my salary and that I would start two weeks from now. The problem is I have bad credit! I have a credit card that has haunted me since 2003. I pay it to the point where the balance is so low then somthing comes up and its right back up again. It has absolutely ruined my credit. I have no criminal past, I dont do drugs, I have the experience and they really liked me.. Not to mention it pays $10,000 more than my current job. Help, Can i really be turned down for the job or can they overlook this one issue.

they can turn you down because of bad credit. Companies are more and more looking at this because they want to see how you handle your money outside of work and this can give them insight to what kind of worker/person you are. Some companies will over look it but if it bothers you that much follow up and find out what their policy is on checking credit reports.

It should not affect it. If you get denied the job and want me to look up the labor laws for you just email me.

I am sure credit score would count against you if you wanted to work the cage at a casino, or be a vault manager at a bank, but if it does not apply to your job I don%26#039;t see how they can hold it against you.|||You can%26#039;t be turned down for any reason other than:

Not qualified of not qualified enough

Over qualified.

Bad working record in the past

No flexibility (not willing to work in present environment

Not having a good credit history is not relevant to the contribution that you can give to an employer.

I am on that boat myself and got a good job.

Have you ever seen %26quot;Persuit of Happyness%26quot;?

That%26#039;s a perfect example as well. Good luck and keep your head up!!!!|||most companies love the fact that you have bad credit, the more debt you have, the more you need the job,so your performance, and longevity will be better|||It really all depends on the position you%26#039;re being hired for. If it%26#039;s a job in the financial market, or banking field, yes you could be disqualified once they%26#039;ve checked your credit because they%26#039;ll look at it as you are having financial difficulties and could be more inclined to steal or embezzle. However, one credit card won%26#039;t really make a difference, what they look for is if you have a bunch of outstanding accounts that you%26#039;ve defaulted on or have been turned over to collections. I%26#039;d say a bankruptcy would have a better chance of you being turned down especially if you%26#039;re going to be handling any sort of money for the company. Not that having a bankruptcy automatically makes you a thief, it doesn%26#039;t I have one and would never dream of stealing from an employer but they don%26#039;t want to take that chance. I worked for a company that asked that question and anyone who answered yes was not called in for an interview.

Have you checked your credit lately? Do you really know how bad it really is or are you just assuming that because you keep running up the balance that your credit is ruined? If you pay timely on the card regardless of your balance you should have great credit. Have you defaulted on the card, been charged off or turned over to collections? THAT will ruin your credit. Paying on the card won%26#039;t.

One card won%26#039;t make or break you.|||ABSOLUTELY NOT. You dont need to worry about it. Have seen lots of people asking info on bad credits. Well, if you need to get your problem solved on%26lt;!--bad credit, you must know to how to confront it. Of course, Even if you have bad credit, you can get loans. Many factors can contribute to someone getting a %26quot;bad credit%26quot; rating, among these are non-payment of an account or late payments over an extended length of time. You may find a bad credit loan here,

You may find want you want. You can easily be labelled as a bad credit risk by financial companies. This can make it more difficult to--%26gt;arrange loans or other finance, and usually means you will pay more interest on any loan you take out.|||It shouldn%26#039;t however, if the job you%26#039;re going for pays more than 80K then, the company can do a credit check on you. You can refer to http://www.cheap-credit-cards.org/ for free credit repair information.
