Unfortunately you might not be able to do as you want at this time.

You might have more mortgage than you have home as indicated by what your Countrywide and another bank has told you.

Not only that you probably have an added weight of a pre-payment penalty, which in your case is probably two years in duration.

There is not lot that this or any other forum can tell you.

About the credit cards you must take care of them someway, credit counseling might be a way. Check out all avenues available to you. When you go to those counseling bureaus or companies the mortgage industry almost count it as declaring bankruptcy for the purpose of getting a loan or refinancing.

Call your card companies and work out something with them. You might have to turn in a few credit cards and keep a few that have the lowest rate. Those that you turn make arrangement to pay a lower monthly payment.

Those that your decide to keep continue paying them.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Please be careful. Loans can be very complicated and disclosures not what they should be. Watch for extra fees that are rolled into your loan, penalities for paying off your loan(or refinancing), a fixed rate for only a fixed time(after which your payment will skyrocket), no variable rates!

Pay off your credit cards and quit using them, please. Up the road, you may have consider selling your house if you can%26#039;t afford living without credit card spending. One year and already refinancing is not a good sign-it%26#039;s a signal for you to pay attention to your finances.

Applying online and getting several offers is not a bad idea. If you get several offers from different lenders, you can compare (I think I used Lending Tree years ago?) Don%26#039;t ever give your SS# out until you%26#039;ve decided they are the lender you%26#039;ll use. Get an estimated settle statement from each to compare. Some of them have very high upfront fees rolled into your loan(Ditech used to have very high fees)And good luck with life.|||Try LendingTree.com|||watch out for a pre-payment penalty... that may be where the difference in payoffs is coming from.

also, if you need to borrow the full equity, you may run into trouble. the subprime market is rough right now and it is having an effect on ALL lenders, even the countrywide (conforming) lenders.

Are there any Canadian credit cards available that don't have an extra foreign transaction fee

I have noticed that Canadian VISA and MasterCard credit card companies alike charge a 2.5% extra fee on all foreign transactions for Canadians using their credit cards outside North America. In the US, CapitalOne cards charge no fees and absorbs the 1% fee presented by MasterCard. The Canadian CapitalOne Cards, however, do not offer this. Does anyone have or know of any Canadian credit cards that have less than a 2.5% extra foreign exchange fee. I have already spoke to a few companies (TD, Citibank, CapitalOne, MBNA, ScotiaBank...) and seem to be getting the same 2.5% response. And whats with the lack of competition between Canadian credit card companies that allows for the lot of them to levy such a stupid fee? (But thats a question for another time...)

Charged off/Paid/Transfert ?

I had about $15,000 in debt. I started payind the debt in full to the collectors, but a friend told me not to pay all in full but instead settle. I settle for about $11000. I keep checking my credit and on the one I paid in full there is the mention pays as aggreed, and the one settle %26gt;Account chargedoff/paid/transfered. My credit score is about 625. What should I do to improve my credit? I do not use credit card a lot and I thought that buying a car and opening a small visa card%26lt;$300 limit will improve it but so far zero. Since I paid all the debt I keep receiving new credit cards offering %26lt;$300-$$3000 (business CC) limit. Do I have to open more card? I only have my car loan as a debt and my loan officer told me to make monthly payments instead of paying off the car. Do I have to argue with the charge off/transfert/pay collector which according to my equifax complaint says that the original creditor ack the charges are true? I would like to buy a house soon, how will it impact me?

Charged off/Paid/Transfert ?tax credit

You settled the $15K debt for less than the amount owed. The report should show that. It should show a $0 balance, but with the note %26quot;Settled for less than full amount%26quot;. If the account was charged off first, then it will show R9 or I9 and yes it is a negative on your account. Keep making payments on the auto loan, keep the balance on your credit card less than 1/2 the credit limit. It will take some time, but your score will improve.

Good luck!

Personally i never heard of that site. I use Experian.com i believe you pay a fee at first to check your credit score, your history with all the three credit bureaus then if you want to sign up experian to send you a statement every month letting you know of any changes on your credit score. You could also dispute items in your credit in this website. They also send you an email the second someone runs your credit. It%26#039;s a good site and it%26#039;s safe. Check it out and Good Luck.

I just got an e-mail from them saying this was my second notice of a change in my credit score. When I clicked the link, it went to a page with old information and wouldn%26#039;t go any further. (I don%26#039;t remember having signed up with them.)

Will it look bad on my credit report if I agree to a settlement offer?

I have a credit card debt. I have been offered a settlement of 60%.

The letter says that once paid, they will consider the account settled in full. What will that look like on my credit report and how will it affect it negatively?

Will it look bad on my credit report if I agree to a settlement offer?interest rate

I am a former financial counselor for a consolidation firm in Orlando so I can answer your question. Whenever you get a settlement offer from a collection agency or a creditor, you have to way the pro%26#039;s and con%26#039;s of your decisions. Two big factors determine your credit score: 35% is payment history, and 30% is overall debt. Based on these two factors, by making a setlement you%26#039;re score will increase somewhat because you are satisfying the debt with that creditor, but may not increase as much as if you paid off the entire debt completely. Score may not be your only concern, because future lenders will see the special status of settlement for this debt which lenders frown upon. It%26#039;s as if you borrowed $100 from a friend and only decided to pay him/her back $60! It satisfies your friend who you owed the money that they got anything back at all, but don%26#039;t go asking other friends for money, you already have a reputation!

So in summary, if your financial situation only allows you to pay a settled amount, then by all means pay it. That collector at least will stop calling your house asking for money (PS make sure to get the offer in writing as described above). But remember this, negative credit history can remain on your credit report for a length of 7-10 years. Or your other alternative is to slowly pay off the debt by making smaller payments. If it%26#039;s with a collection agency, then they probably aren%26#039;t charging interest and you are already used to their collection tactics. You may be able to pay it off sooner than 7-10 years, and remember they will show %26quot;satisfied%26quot; on your report instead of %26quot;settled%26quot; which is much better.

Will it look bad on my credit report if I agree to a settlement offer?

loan

If you can accept it, do so.

But do NOT say yes and fall thru with it.

A Settlement Pay Off is still a Pay Off.

If you mess it up....it will be worse.|||Well it won%26#039;t look as bad as it probably does now, as I am assuming you%26#039;re in default (way past due) or you wouldnt be settling. It should show as “settled in full” once you%26#039;ve paid. It will still be a negative listing, but it will show that you made an effort to satisfy the debt.

The best bet for you would be if you could get them to agree to remove the listing completely, but likely they won%26#039;t. I would take the offer (GET IT IN WRITING) and wait a couple of months, pull your credit reports (annualcreditreport.com) and see what the listing shows. After a period of time you can dispute the item through the bureaus. It is possible to get information removed that is %26quot;unverifiable%26quot;, meaning if they dont respond or no longer have the records then the account gets removed. So yeah I say take the settlement. Good luck.|||First of all a settled account is a good thing, as opposed to a collection account.

If you have not settled yet, make sure the wording is %26quot;paid,satisfactory%26quot; and any reference to %26quot;late payment%26quot; or %26quot;charge off%26quot; be deleted from your file. and get it in writing.

And, in some cases, you can get them to delete the information entirely (as I have done)

e-mail me at farrellhi2000@yahoo.com and I will attach a scanned copy of an actual sample %26quot;creditor settlement agreement%26quot; letter. This letter is important because, If they don%26#039;t report correctly to the credit bureaus, you can send this letter to the bureaus yourself.

How profitable is it joining a credit union compare to a bank? Houston, TX Credit Unions members adv

After extensive research, for a friend and me, I found out that Credit Unions are the best places to obtain a credit card, and loans. I live in Houston, Texas and found many options for a credit union so I don%26#039;t know which one to choose in terms of getting a good credit card with fraud protection and all that kind of stuff that a credit card from a bank like Chase have, a saving and checking accounts with no or %26lt; $6 fees on each, and good range on loans.

I know the website that tells me which credit unions they offer here in houston, but I am more interested in personal experience with them and how did they work for you in both short and long terms. Most of the stuff I read has been only to praise each union, but which business doesn%26#039;t do that, so I want to know the good and bad of the union yourself have joined and which ones you recommend.

I belong to a credit union and the interest rates are great on savings and CDs. The interest rate on loans is unbelievably low. My son and I (he was 19 at the time and living at home) both had car loans at the same time. If he couldn%26#039;t make his payment I could handle them both (though not for long LOL)The only problem, is I can only write six checks a month on that account.

How profitable is it joining a credit union compare to a bank? Houston, TX Credit Unions members advise prefer loan

Credit unions usually have fewer (and lower) fees for their products and services than conventional banks. That%26#039;s because their not-for-profit status allows them to have a different fee structure than a for-profit bank.

It%26#039;s also often easier for members to get services such as higher risk loans, personal loans, start-over credit cards etc. which many conventional banks no longer offer because of the higher risk.

Again, it%26#039;s because of credit unions%26#039; members- only, not-for-profit status. Credit Unions answer to their members. Publicly owned banks answer to stockholders.

That said, one must be a member to qualify - and members with better credit scores get better rates just like banks. On the other hand, they can be invaluable if you are just starting out or starting over in the world of credit.

Becoming a member usually involves meeting some kind of qualification - such as working for a company, government, living in a particular geographic area etc. You will probably have to pay a fee - usually less than $50 - for your membership. There are also minimum deposit requirements etc.|||Always deal with Credit Unions first. They do not have stockholders to satisfy. Many commercial banks are great places to do business with but for lower fees, and higher rates of return with the same safety, go with a Credit Union. And they are non-profit, too.

best way is accept balance transfer offer from other card issuer or try to get a debt consolidation loan?

Please give best solution from your experience..if you are suggesting debt consolidating loan please suggest where can we get such loan?

We have 15K debt from 3 credit cards?mortgage rate

The best was to eliminate this debt would be this way... Do you own a home? If you do, ask to take out a home equity line of credit (equity loan) (for the amount of the credit cards). Whatever the case may be this will get you in at the lowest interest rate possible. Paying off 15,000 in credit card debt isn%26#039;t going to happen overnight. You also do not want to be paying additional interest on your living expenses.

A consolidation loan would be your second most viable possibility. One loan which will automatically pay off the three cards which you will be paying back to the bank at a much lower rate than what you are paying on the credit cards.

Where a balance transfer to a new card will bite you is the rate they give you for transferring a balance is usually only for 6 months to one year as an introductory rate, Unless you can pay it off entirely in that one years time frame, you are back at square one...a big debt at a high interest rate.

If you can do without using the cards at all, call somewhere like Consumer Credit Counselling. They may be able to talk to these financial institutions and get your interest rate drastically lowered. A place that actually wants to help you won%26#039;t charge you an arm and a leg for their service.

Good luck...

OK...approach your banks, and see which one will consolidate. Then have your entire pay directly credited to the card, and use that card for all living expenses. you will be surprised how quickly the balance will shrink and you will save heaps on interest.|||The problem with consolidation loans is that most people continue to use credit after they consolidate - and a year later, they%26#039;re back in the same mess they consolidated out of.

My approach would be to pay minimum monthly on the two $6500 balances, and pay every extra cent I could on the $2000 balance, until it was paid off. I%26#039;d set a goal of say, 4 months, to get that paid off.

I%26#039;d stop using credit cards.

Every time I went to buy something, I%26#039;d ask %26quot;Do I really need this?%26quot;

I%26#039;d stop eating out, Carry a lunch and drinks. Way cheaper.

I%26#039;d reduce the number of times I drove each day.

Maybe find a part time job to make more money to pay off the debts.

As soon as the $2000 was paid off, I%26#039;d pick the credit card with the higher interest rate, and start paying extra on it monthly. And set a goal. And do all the steps I listed above to meet the goal.

After that is paid off, you%26#039;re down to one card - now pay it off the same way.

And continue not using credit cards.

You%26#039;ll end up $$$ ahead - and never look back|||Don%26#039;t get a loan to pay debt..it doesn%26#039;t make sense. Reduce spending overall and pay extra to the principle on each card. Get rid of luxury items, never eat out and reduce grocery bills by only buying on sale items.

I did this and am saving over $200 a month making small adjustments.|||Getting a loan to pay off one is the worst path to take and should be the last plan of action...Have you taken any legal advice. Im sure there are agencies in America that offer free advice for debtors.

Sometimes the only answer is to declare yourself Bankrupt but it has its implications....In any case you need to get advice okay....sooner than later.!|||DO NOT get a loan against you home as suggested by someone. If you default on that payment your home will be repossessed and you%26#039;ll be homeless!

You have some other good suggestions to follow|||A balance transfer offer might make sense if it has a low interest rate for the life of the balance and you always make at least the minimum payment every month. If you miss a payment, they charge a late fee, and the interest rate goes back up to the regular purchase rate or higher. There is also a transaction fee which varies from bank to bank.|||You have credit card debt, and you wan to pay it off as quickly as you can. We will assume that you are going to stop creating more debt. You have changed your ways. You also understand that paying credit card%26lt;!--balances with a consolidation loan or rolling it into a mortgage isn%26#039;t paying it off. In fact, paying a lower interest rate, but paying on the debt for many more years, usually means paying much more, not less.Okay, so you really want to be rid of that credit card debt.

http://bestcreditcards.freehostia.com/Cr...

First, you have to understand that not all debt is the same. Of course you know this. Some of your cards have a higher interest rate than others.Find and budget the money to start paying down those balances. If you order pizza every week, for example, you may be spending $60 or $80 per month right there--%26gt;If you are serious about getting those debts paid, you may have to eat $4 frozen pizzas for now. Do what you have to do, and determine how much you can apply towards the debt each month.|||My friend had over $25,000 in credit card debts and was getting harassed by creditors daily. Do nothing!

This is actually one of the option alot of people try doing and finally put themself into deeper problem. You will eventually start getting calls from collection agencies and they will offer you settlement of around 50 to 70% meaning you will have to pay around 60% back in 1 payment which is not easy...

Debt Consolidation

Debt consolidation loan will help you to consolidation all your debts into 1 and you will start making 1 payment every month and they will start paying your creditor. This is something which will lower your interest rate but you need to understand debt consolidation will not do anything good to the principle amount.

Bankruptcy

Filing for a bankruptcy is another option but i am sure you understand you don%26#039;t want this because this will stay on your credit report forever. This takes control out of your hands for more than 7 years and you still make monthly payments, so lets forget about this for now

CCCS - Credit counseling program

CCC organizations are usually designated as non-profits by the IRS, although many of these firms recently lost that status because the IRS felt that had %26quot;for profit%26quot; motives. These organizations combine your payments to one monthly payment, where you pay back all of the principal, some interest and some fees. Many CCC organizations receive funding from creditors as well as payment from their clients.

Many times these programs are generally drawn out over four to six years and less than one out of four actually complete the program. Many times these payments are higher than the original credit card payments and this program can have a non flattering affect on your credit.

So here is what you need!

Debt Settlement

Debt settlement or debt arbitration is a legal process used by both people in debt and their creditors to negotiate a settlement of an existing legal debt. This proactive approach is the most cost-effective option to pay off your current debt while avoiding the negative effects of bankruptcy. Any person owing credit card debt, or any other debt, has the legal right to contact and negotiate with the creditors. This practice however, takes time to master and certain skills to get the maximum benefits. The Debt Settlement Company works diligently and professionally with your creditors on your behalf to reduce your current unsecured debt balances down 40-60% by arbitrating an agreed settlement amount with your creditors.

Would I save $ putting the balance of a car loan on a lower % CC?

Hi all,

I am presently paying 6.49% on a fixed 5 year auto loan. I recently received a credit card offer for 1.9% for the entire life of a balance transfer. Now I already contacted the credit card company and verified that it would count as a balance transfer, however do credit cards and auto loans compound interest differently? Would it be smart to transfer the balance to the credit card and continue making the same payments every month?

My first assumption would be that in the end I would pay off the car quicker. But I dont know how the interest works out.

Thanks,

-T

Would I save $ putting the balance of a car loan on a lower % CC?car financing

DO NOT transfer a fixed loan to a credit card. Credit cards have a revolving rate and can change without you even knowing about it. I garuantee that if you call a credit card company you have that your interest rate has changed since you opened the card. Even if the fixed rate is higher it is still better than a revolving rate. Credit Cards are nothing but a scam and it%26#039;s mind boggling how they aren%26#039;t illegal. The interest rate you are sold on changes if you miss a payment or send a late payment. It can get as high as 20-30%. If you send a payment late, it changes your rate. Credit cards are slick in the fact that the time on the due date is normally 12 noon or 1pm. So even if your payment gets there the due date, if its after that time its considered late. They also have double-cycle billing. If your due date is on March 10th and you pay on March 1st, your payment is early. But, if you pay next month%26#039;s bill on April 10th, then it%26#039;s late because they count 30 days from the day you make your payment, not the due date. Also law has been passed to where if you%26#039;re late any payment that has nothing to do with your card (such as a utility bill) then they can raise your interest rate. With a fixed rate you know a future date for it to be payed off. Credit cards are designed for you to pay them for the rest of your life. That%26#039;s why they have a minimum payment; that%26#039;s only the interest you%26#039;re paying. Capitol One%26#039;s CEO made over $200 million last year because of the advantage they take of consumers%26#039; lack of knowledge. PLEASE DON%26#039;T MAKE THAT MISTAKE!

Would I save $ putting the balance of a car loan on a lower % CC? loan

It is a better deal. BUT, something many people do not know is that if they are late for one payment the credit card company can raise your rate to usurious levels. Think 24%

If that happens, the 6.49% would surely look good again.|||You should probably ask the credit card company how it compounds that 1.9% interest rate. I would also make sure I had the agreement in writing and read all the fine print. Maybe you have a friend in the finance business who can read it too or tell you what phrases to watch out for.

However, you may not be able to transfer a loan to a credit card. I know my car loan company doesn%26#039;t take credit. Also, be aware of how many credit cards you have since opening a new account could negatively impact your credit score.

Want to rebuild my credit where is a good start?

When I turned 18 and went off to college I opened up every card that was offered to me. Over the past 6 years I have been trying to pay off the damage I made that year- and finally at the end of this past summer I paid everything I know off. I am planning on having my credit ran again at the new year- my score is super super low! I want to rebuild and repair- I was told to check out a card from my bank that I pay into ahead of time, but works like a credit card. Does this help? I tried to get it before and they wouldn%26#039;t let me- I think because I had not paid off my debt yet. I was told to open a card, buy something like gas or dinner once a month and pay it off right away. How long will it take for me to get my credit up? Any suggestions on how to do this- I hope to look into a large purchase (car/house) soon.... will it take more than 3 years?

Want to rebuild my credit where is a good start?credit rating

Rai,

I%26#039;ll definitely tell you that you%26#039;re on the right track. Yes, the credit card that you%26#039;re talking about is called a secured credit card which you would have to place a deposit upfront as collateral to start building credit. In order to build your score, you have to start somewhere, and a secured card is a perfect place to start. I deal with credit on an everyday basis making decisions on people that happen to %26quot;fall through the cracks%26quot; of the automated system that approves or denies credit, so I know what it would take in order to get you back right. But I%26#039;ll continue how you can make the most out of a secured card. Keep in mind that you have to put up a deposit. Of course you can%26#039;t use the deposit to pay the minimum payment or the balance on it, unless it went to collections which you don%26#039;t want to happen in this case. The deposit sometimes can be linke to a savings account or time deposit(CD) which can gain interest while you%26#039;re building credit, so your deposit money just doesn%26#039;t sit there. This can be the perfect way to have a way to save up for a down payment on a large purchase and build credit at the same time. For example, if you were wanting to save up for a car, start saving up for the down payment by putting it in a secured card. You%26#039;ll get the deposit back sometime later as long as you pay on time and keep the card in good standing. Not only you saved up money for a down payment, you rebuilt your credit and got regular credit card with a decent limit out the deal. Now that credit card you got will be the new backbone of your credit history, so it%26#039;s important to get as high a limit on it as you can because the higher the limit, the better it reports on your credit becuase you need a cushion between the total debt you owe and the available credit, so it%26#039;s important to keep the balances low, no more than 25-30% of your available credit at any given time. The perfect way to use a secured card would be to treat it as if it only had a $50 limit, and spend no more than $20 and pay it off on time every month while adding to the deposit as much as you can. Once the card converts to a regular one, do it again with another card. It%26#039;s important to have a couple of major credit cards reporting in order to build credit for you.

I think that 3 years is plenty of time to rebuild your credit with positive credit, which those old debts that would be 5 years and older will fall from your report anyway.

I posted some links to some secured cards, some of these you might already be familiar with

what I would do is get a small personal loan and pay it off in a few months or get a credit card use it for everyday purchases that you usually will do but keep track or them and at the end of the month send in the full payment so that way you do not pay interest and you are building credit, check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com here you will be able to compare all major credit cards, GOOD, BAD OR NO CREDIT they have the right card for you.|||I would encourage you to not get in to any more debt if you can help it. If you are going to be purchasing a car soon, then save up your own money and pay for it. That way you don%26#039;t have to worry about a loan payment (in which you WILL pay back more than the car is worth). For a home, you can use a lender who does their own underwriting so as long as your bills have been paid on time for two years, and you have been at your job for two years, you have a good chance of getting a loan.|||Before you open any new credit lines, read my website. I%26#039;ll bet your report is full of errors and items paid off that are still showing as charge-offs. you really need to get those removed before you try opening more credit.

I went through a bankruptcy and an ID theft, so this is an area I know pretty well! Get a credit monitoring service like Equifax 3 in 1 because I know your going to need it when you start making repairs to your credit.

I got my score up from a stinky 486 to a much better 729 in a little over a year LEGALLY!!!! There are many sites that promise fast results, but legalities are questionable!|||I wouldnt obsess with %26quot;building Credit%26quot;. Banks brainwash people into thinking they need to get credit cards and a high I love debt score to make it in todays world. Not true. Live on less than you make. You will win with money.

The only people that obsess with the I Love Debt score are the ones that are planing on borrowing lots of money and paying lots of interest.

A low score from not paying your bills is trouble. If you have a 0 score from not borrowing money you can still get an apartment and a job. You can even get a home loan with manual undewriting.

A debit card will do anything a credit card will do ( rent a car, book a hotel room) except get you into debt. It has all the protection as long as it has a visa or mastercard logo on it. It says so right on their website.

Debt free is the way to be!|||First of all, you will need to know where you鈥檙e at to see just where you need to go. This means opening up each bill that you receive each month to see what the balance is. So often, it鈥檚 easier to simply pay off the minimum balance and forget about the 鈥榯rue鈥?amount that you need to pay off. Starting today, begin to look at your balances 鈥?it will stay in your mind and begin to influence your spending choices.

Next, you will want to take all of your credit cards out of your wallet and find one that you will use ONLY for emergencies. The rest you will put away or cut up. This can be a painful experience for some because it means that you won鈥檛 be able to spend on credit anymore, but it will also help to stop your debt from accumulating and help each payment go toward paying down the debts that you do have.

You will also want to start paying for things only with cash and with checks. This gives you an instant reminder that whatever money you spend is going to be gone the instant that you spend it 鈥?and that might cause you to rethink non-essential purchases. You may want to start taking out a certain amount of money each week from the ATM or simply use your debit card whenever you make purchases. This is a great way to change the way you think about spending.

Another thing that you can do today is start to make a schedule of how you will pay your bills each month. Being on time with your payments is a simple step towards rebuilding your credit as it allows creditors to see that you are taking your finances seriously. And creditors that feel you are taking your finances seriously can sometimes give interest breaks from time to time, helping you pay off your debts more quickly.

You don鈥檛 need to stop spending altogether to begin the process of rebuilding your debt, but you do need to start taking baby steps in a better direction

Bad inquiries bad credit???

When I turned 18 bank of america offer me a student credit card with a credit limit of $700. I was happy and all I wanted is to get more credit cards. I started applying online to all these other companies such as citi bank, chase, macy%26#039;s and hsbc. They all denied me, i guess it was because i was new to credit. Oh, and when I applied I guess I applied with good rates and all this good stuff and I guess this messed me up! Now how can I get rid of all these inquiries showing on my credit report?? There are about 6 or 7.

Bad inquiries bad credit???rate my teacher

How old are these?

They will remain on your report for 2 years from the date of inquiry. However, after the first year they are not counted in your credit score at all, and the biggest effect is only in the first 6 months.

So if they are valid the only thing that will remove them is time.

Question about balance transfers?

I got a credit card offer in the mail. It said 0% APR on all purchaces untill July 2007. So I trasfered my balance of $300 of another card to that card. AFTER I DID THAT i got reading and the offer was only on purchaces not balance transfers!! Thats what i get for not reading the whole thing. so i called and it is to late to stop it so i was wondering if my best bet is to find another card that does offer 0% APR on BALANCE TRANSFERS and transfer the new balance to that???

Question about balance transfers?construction loans

See if you can transfer it back - but if you can find another card with no fee on balance transfers you might not be able to double transfer the same balance.

Question about balance transfers? loan

Yep, thats what I%26#039;d do. There is always going to be a minimum balance transfer fee but it%26#039;s totally worth it if you can find one for 0% APR. You can transfer as many times but make sure they are w/ different companies. I%26#039;ve been transfering the same amount since last year, once one offer expired off to another...|||More than likely they will not allow you to tranfer it back without paying the 3 percent BT fee. You could always try to move it to another card with 0 intrest, but be careful. This is your credit and holding too many cards can also look bad on your credit report.|||You are going to get a double whammy here! You%26#039;ll end up paying twice for transferring this balance! This is why you always read the fine print before doing any actions!

You need to find another card that has 0% balance transfer fees. Once you are approved for a card, call them for the transfer...to be certain you are getting the right deal. In fine print, many times, they have a clause stating if you do not qualify for the prime then you will be charged this or that, and many times this can be a balance transfer fee...you wont know it until you do a transfer, but it was right there in tiny print!

So always call when doing a balance transfer and be certain you will get 0% on the transfer!

How do 0% APR on Purchases work?

I had a question about a recent Credit Card offer I got in the mail. Its from Capital One offering 0% APR on Purchases and 0% APR on Balance Transfer until December 2007.

If I purchase something using this card, it bascially means that I have until December 2007 to pay off the balance without accuring any interest? So say if I purchase something for $6000, I have 12 months to pay it off or I will accure interest charges for the entire 12 months?

The APR after 12/2007 would be 9.99%, would this be considered a good credit card to get if I am planning on buying something expensive and having enough time pay it off?

Any suggestions would be helpfull, Thank You!

How do 0% APR on Purchases work?yes loans

I%26#039;d have to see the terms of the contract but it sounds like interest doesn%26#039;t start accruing until Dec. 2007 so if you purchase anything and pay it off before that date, you wouldn%26#039;t incur interest. And 9.99% is a decent rate.

How do 0% APR on Purchases work? loan

Continue to read the fine print. Usually with deals like this, if you%26#039;re late with any payment on ANY credit account you have (yes, even OTHER credit cards or charge accounts) then you lose the 0% APR and finance charges begin immediately. You%26#039;ll also lose the 9.99% APR, in other words, you%26#039;re APR will immediately go to something like 19.99%.

How will they know if you%26#039;re late with another card? The other account holder reports this sort of thing to the credit reporting agencies and Capital One will continually look at your credit report for late payments.

No, this is not a good thing.|||There are 2 main types of credit cards. Personal (bank) credit cards and store issued (private label) credit cards. With bank cards (capital one) they normally offer an incentive for new customers. They are offering you NO interest on anything purchased or transfered until Dec. 2007. (as long as there is no default meaning late payments, going over the limit etc. ) For example... If you transfer $1000 to the credit card in January you will have a minimum payment of roughly $23/month. Let%26#039;s say Next December you still owe $200. At that point you will begin to get charged interest starting on that $200 ONLY. (roughly $1.60/month)

FYI...Store cards are a whole different story.

Am I really prequalified?

I received a Bank of America credit card offer in the mail that says i%26#039;m prequalified. I dont want to apply for credit and not get it and in turn hurt my credit score. So, am I really prequalified?

Am I really prequalified?education loans

Pre qualified is a word used to indicate they would like your business. the still need to APPROVE your application. There is a good chance they will as they do not send that out without some indication they can get your business with an adequate risk to themselves. But you do not know what the limit or interest rate is until you apply and they get your real credit score.

If you want a credit card and you want the best deal, got to http://www.creditcards.com to compare different credit cards (there are many of these sites -- just search on %26quot;Compare credit cards%26quot; on any search engine). You can find one that has points if that is what you are looking for, low or no annual fee, cash back, better interest rates, etc.

If you qualify for a credit card, you are better off searching around for the one you really want.

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage?

I have a mortgage with a rate of 4.99% which i am allowed to take payment breaks from. Three per year. I have a loan at a rate of 5.2%. Would it be wise to take the payment breaks and use the money to clear my loan? My mortgage is 锟?15k and the loan is 锟?4k

Also, is it worth putting the loan onto a credit card with 0% interest until the 0% interest period is up and then sourcing another 0% interest credit card offer and shifting the balance continually like this until the debt has gone?

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage?bridge loan

Refiance your mortgage and incorporate your other loan into it. In other words let the mortgage co. pay off the other loan aand add it to your mortgage. You can also wrap up your auto loan in your mortgage to free up that higher interest rate.

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage? loan

id clear the loan and then focus on you house|||the credit card thing is a good idea if you are disciplined and wont use the card and will switch at the end of the term. i would say pay the loan off as the rates on loans are always higher than the mortgage rate.|||WWW.martinlewis.com for good sound advice on most financial aspects. My son used the advice on this website and was able to claim back literally hundreds of pounds in bank charges.

Give it a try good luck!

My advice though would be to clear the loan off.|||A personal loan is unlikely to be at 5.2%. This may be the headline rate (for headline read %26quot;we%26#039;re lying%26quot;). It%26#039;s the APR you need to compare.

Personal loans usually have an unfair method of calculating the early redemption cost. You need to take the hidden redemption penalties into account when deciding is you should shift.

The drawback with consolidating a personal loan into your mortgage is that it will take longer to repay so although the interest rate may be lower, the total cost is higher.

Moving to 0% credit cards can give a saving, provided you know what you are doing. Remember that these are designed to be introductory offers to trap the unwary into paying fees and interest. Read the small print carefully and don%26#039;t use the same credit card for purchases (any payments in come off the 0% chunk and you pay accumulating interest on the purchases). The other problem is that you are committing yourself to being able to find 0% deals in the future. These could dry up if banks have to rethink their charges.|||1. A mortgage payment break means you are simply deferring payment until later and the interest still accrues including interest on the interest you have just accrued by taking a break. It%26#039;s a bit of a con over say 20 years of the lifetime of the mortgage and you will on paper at the end of it paid through the nose for that break. You have to think a little beyond the initial bonus to you . . . the lenders do it for a reason and that%26#039;s to increase their returns over a longer period but suggesting to you that%26#039;s it%26#039;s a gift to you for being such a nice customer.

2. The loan rate you have is OK . . . even if it was 6.2% or up to 7.5%.

3. Credit Cards and 0% over 12 months. There is a fee of usually 2.5% to 3% depending on which card you apply for. In effect that%26#039;s 3% interest you are paying. Fine if you can keep swapping and applying for new cards every 12 months but what happens what if the credit card companies stop promoting 12 months free interest at the end of your period and you can%26#039;t get another card. Then you have to organise a quick loan instead and you may end up paying a higher interest than your first loan.

Finally . . . unless you desperately need cash for some reason, just keep paying back what you owe at the rates you already have.|||Hello,

(ANS) In my opinion I would advise you to pay off your mortgage first before anything else, why? a) its a large monetary amount b) interest rates may go up again c) you will be paying a much larger amount financially in the long term in interest and fee%26#039;s to the lender on a mortgage of 锟?15K than on 锟?4K.

**I was amazed once I cleared my mortgage how much money that freed up each month.

**Once you have cleared your mortgage (if you can) use the money from this to next clear your smaller loan at 5.2% on the 锟?4K. If you are self disciplined I think you will be surprised as to how quickly you could potentially pay this off. Bear in mind you could also think about even increase your repayments per month on the smaller loan once the mortgage is gone?

Ivan|||The loan has a higher apr - assuming that the interest is charged monthly. It may well be that the interest was front loaded and now you are paying the capital of the debt off.

Yes you can recycle any paper product as long as it has no food residue on it, so your old receipts, old homework, junk mail, etc. is fine. For plastic wrappers and blister packing it depends on where you live/the company that takes care of your recycling. (The blister packs and other plastic containers should have a number in a triangle somewhere and the company that deals with your recycling should have a list of the numbers they accept.) For items that have been used for food, paper plates, napkins, etc., you can put these in your compost bin if your company provides you with one. (If you have no compost bin I recommend stating your own because it will help cut down your waste and provide you with nutrient rich soil and worms for fishing. Here%26#039;s a website on how to do it: http://www.compostguide.com) Oh and for those plastic cups just give a rinse and throw them in the recycle bin. Glad to see your recycling!

You can put in anything that%26#039;s recyclable, which includes things like metal, old towels, broken calculators, old computers, broken printers, unused or unneeded wood, pens, USB%26#039;s, anything that can be reused and remade. For anything like rotten items, dead leaves, banana peels, etc. you can place them in a compost bin, but if you are growing plants in a yard, these can be placed and the ground to decompose and provide minerals and nutrients to the soil. We used to use this tape to mount design sketches to matte board. It%26#039;s repositionable (obviously) but will adhere stronger over time. And like rubber cement, it can be %26quot;rolled up%26quot; to leave a clean, unmarked surface underneath.

You should be able to get it at an art supply store too.

Read some credit, loans and investing tips on this site to help you with it|||no|||It is perfectly OK to do this under certain conditions:

1. If you do not have the funds to pay back the loan immediately, then you should only invest in 100% guarenteed investments. Other investments (stocks, corporate bonds, etc) have volitility that can really hurt you here. The best fit for this deal is typically 12 month CDs. However, there are savings accounts paying nearly the same as 12 month CDs, so those are good (and much more flexible) options as well. Don%26#039;t get greedy....take your 5% with a smile. Afterall, it%26#039;s free money.

2. Stay on top of this stuff. Do not under any circumstances miss a payment or even be late with a payment on this card or any other card. The way the system works now, if you are late with a payment to Chase, Citi can (and will) cancel your 0% and shoot you straight to 20%+.

3. Know when the rate expires, and don%26#039;t get caught off guard. If this rate expires a year from now, mark it on your calendar in red ink. Better yet, mark the day...and put reminders a few weeks before hand to pay it off before the rate jumps.

That%26#039;s about it. Keep in mind that when you take out 0% offers, it does increase your debt to income ratio, which affects your ability to get other credit.

Ask God to lead you step by step with open doors of opportunity rather than just throwing it in your lap. Savings accounts generate almost no interest. Many people keep money in savings for emergency expenses, but I keep an unused credit card for that. CD%26#039;s are safe, generate a fair interest rate, but your money is tied up a long time. Do some research on mutual funds.

As far as a credit card, get a MasterCard or VISA. They have no annual fee. And, if you pay them off in full every month, the interest is zero. American Express cards have certain perks (like, frequent flyer miles), but there%26#039;s an annual fee of about $150 and they%26#039;re not accepted in as many places as MC%26#039;s or VISAs.

Oh, and if you don%26#039;t want to die from a heart attack, i recommend you stay away from Bank of America.|||I like www.HSBCDirect.com for a savings account. They offer 5.05% and are a very reputibale bank. But i do know that www.eloans.com offers 5.25% on savings and 5.60 on CD%26#039;s. I have a friend that has am www.etrade.com savings account that gets 5.05% and she really likes it. It seems to be a little more user friendly as far as signing into your account goes. But, i don%26#039;t mind the added security that HSBC as. Over all i just definately recommend and on-line savings account because of the better interest rates they can offer. And as far as credit cards go if you have a good credit score I think that you definately want to go for one that offers points towards something you like (ie, airlines, hotels, cabela%26#039;s, etc.) or one that offers cash back such as Discover.|||There%26#039;s no simplified best, but keep in mind the following...

Savings accounts:

For savings accounts, they are less frequently withdrawn from than checking accounts (perhaps once every month at most). They%26#039;re more liquid, and offer a very negligable amount of interest usually around 1%. Savings accounts should be used for things like unexpected car maintenance, etc.

CDs:

If you don%26#039;t plan on using the money, or have enough in the savings to cover unexpected expenses and occurences then invest the money in a CD. CDs are federally insured no risk SAVING VESSELS, they%26#039;re not really an investment because interest rates while much higher than savings accounts are still considerably low, and really don%26#039;t do much more than counter yearly inflation and add a few extra dollars on top of that. So if you want your money to be about the same value a year from now or so, then put it in a CD not a savings account. Savings account will actually devalue your money if you don%26#039;t use it.

Credit Cards:

Don%26#039;t bother looking at credit card interest rates, if you%26#039;re concerned about that then you don%26#039;t need a credit card. Interest rates on credit cards only come into play if you aren%26#039;t responsible enough to pay off the bill each month in full, and in that case you shouldn%26#039;t use a credit card. Just look for good benefits in credit cards such as airline miles, rewards, etc.

I hope this knowledge will shed light on your financial decision making, and guide you to a sound choice.|||Again, may I suggest WAMU: Washington Mutual Bank. I love there :no fees%26quot;, an they do have CDs.

But Neither savings nor CDs will pay very much. If you are just starting out, which it sounds like, then choose a CD in the six months range. They are currently paying about 4.5-5% per annual. So in six months you will make on $500, about $12. Savings are even worse: most pay 2% maybe three% about $5-$6 in six months.

Please be aware that banks love the phrase %26quot;High interest%26quot; when it is in the neighborhood of 4.75%. That really is poor,

How do you count miles?student finance

Award flights aren%26#039;t based on the number of miles to that particular destination. The awards are given out once you reach a certain number of miles. The farther out of a particular region you want to go the more it is.

For example, for the airline of my choice, it%26#039;s approx 45 thousand miles for a trip in the continental US. To go outside, say down to South America, it%26#039;s 60K. It goes up from there.

Whats a balance transfer?

i saw a credit card offer this online and people talk about it,but, i never knew what it meant or what does balance transfer do??? someone explain it 2 me =]

Whats a balance transfer?credit union

A balance transfer is simply transferring the balance from one credit card to a 2nd credit card (usually a new card).

Example. Credit Card 1 you owe $500 @ 18% interest. You get a new credit card that is offering balance transfers @ 0% interest. You can transfer the $500 from Credit Card 1 where you have to pay high interest, to credit card 2 . This will pay off credit card 1, and now credit card 2 you will owe the $500. Alot of people will do this, so that they can pay money owed at less %.

Whats a balance transfer?

loan

If you had another credit card and owed a balance of $2,000 you can transfer that to your new card. Why transfer a balance? Because the new card might be offering a deal like lower interest rate then you are paying now for the balance to be transferred.

Then you owe a balance $2,000 on the new card. If you kept this up monthly, you might never have to pay that balance! :)|||That means you move the amount you owe from you current credit card company to another credit card company... usually one charging a lower rate of interest.|||A balance transfer is when you transfer the balance of one card to another. You can transfer all or part of your balance. What the credit card company does is make a payment for you to the other card. Be careful, most of the time they charge you a higher interest rate since it is a cash advance. Also, they will start charging you interest as soon as it is done, unlike a credit card purchase. They can also charge you a transfer fee|||A credit card balance transfer is the act of moving an existing debt from one credit card to another credit card. With a balance transfer, the existing balance is transferred to another credit card and then is subjest to the new card%26#039;s interest rates and fees.

I am very sure this is stated somewhere in the %26quot;legalese%26quot; of the %26quot;terms and conditions%26quot; disclosure you were provided upon opening your credit card account.

However, the credit card company is REQUIRED by law to notify you in advance IN WRITING should they make any changes in your APR, especially when they have previously marketed a fixed rate.

Usually, when the credit card company notifies you of a change in your APR, they will provide you with the option of notifying them that you do not accept the new %26quot;terms and conditions%26quot; of the credit card account.

They will then close your account and you can pay under the old terms. However, you can not make any new purchases as the account is closed.|||Hi,friend
