Can adding someone as an authorised user boast there credit score? How does this process work. Any b

I learned that if you have bad credit, than someone with great credit can add u as an authoried user on thier account (credit card) and this will boast thier credit score. The situation is I am in process of repairing my credit and my boyfriend has offered to see if he can add me on to his account as an authorized user. The only thing is I do not want him to add me as an authorized user if this will affect his score.

The FICO scoring system is going to be changed shortly so that this type of credit %26quot;piggybacking%26quot; won%26#039;t work. But yes, currently you can add an authorized user to a debt account and it can help their credit score.

No, they are closing that loophole. You have to be a co-borrower, not just an authorized user on someone else%26#039;s account.|||This is not true anymore. In September 2007 FICO changed their rules for calculating credit scores to exclued history derived from authorized user status. The reason for this is because of exactly what you are talking about...people were abusing and artifically boosting their credit scores (can you say subprime mess).

The answer is it won%26#039;t affect either of your scores if you were added on his card.|||Not sure if they have closed the loophole yet, but you could try it. In any case, it does not bring down the score of the primary account holder.|||As of 2008 an authorizer accounts will not increase the credit scores. I did that for my son earlier in 2005 to give him a good start. Check out the website for the federal trade commission for more information;

Hope it helps
