Online Spies....Customized Offers?

Last week, I tried to rent a car on-line thru Avis for Grandma. First, I tried with the discount coupon received with my credit card. Then, I entered my PADI scuba divers number, that ended up being more. Finally...I used Grandma%26#039;s AARP [card for seniors] and...it came up $100.00 more!! A discount for seniors that cost more than all of them. I logged out %26amp; signed in through my other email %26amp; received the cheapest rate!! $200.00 less? With no discount card!!

I just read where a guy checked prices thru Dell.com for a computer. As he inadvertently, logged off while chatting with a friend, %26amp; logged back on, it raised the price $225.!!

He tried it a couple times %26amp; the price kept increasing!

This article says that by tracking your purchases, the companies enter an amount that they think you can afford.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Isn%26#039;t %26#039;spybot%26#039; and %26#039;adaware%26#039;, and other spy/tracking programs supposed to eliminate this?

If these don%26#039;t....what does?

Thanks for any help.

This has happened to me a few times. I block all cookies and hasn%26#039;t happened to me since. This is not cause by spy ware unless the website you went to was directly linked from the spy ware, another words, if you clicked on an ad.

I think this is true and has happened to me before. I normally check the prices online but make my purchase by directly calling the company.|||You need a firewall that%26#039;s what does the blocking but none of it is 100% effective.
